For May’s staff profile we will be learning a little more about Greg Wells. Greg is one of our Victorian based Account Managers and has been with us since May 2016.

Greg enjoys working at Caprice because he finds all his co-workers very friendly and helpful. Although there’s certainly some friendly rivalry once footy season comes around. Greg, like many others at Caprice, is an avid Hawthorn supporter.

In Greg’s spare time he enjoys playing golf, although he claims he doesn’t play very well. He also enjoys travelling and took time last year to visit Los Angeles, Las Vegas & San Francisco with his family. Greg said “they had an amazing time”, which we don’t doubt. He’d also love to travel to New York and England.

Speaking of family, as well as his lovely wife Deanne and two kids, Greg has a Black Golden Retriever x Border Collie named Stella. Unsurprisingly, Greg’s favourite season is footy season and we imagine he is looking forward to the next few months.

Caprice love having Greg as part of our team and look forward to working with him for many years to come!

For the month of March we asked one of our NSW Account Managers, Janine Campanella, to answer our questionnaire. Janine has been an employee of Caprice for almost 4 years and says she loves being a part of the team. Specifically she thinks ‘the people are great, the work environment is fun and the ‘CARE’ factor felt for our customers…is HUGE!’. She feels that ‘we work very closely with one another across the whole business to collectively ensure our customers have a pleasant Caprice experience in all aspects’.

Janine’s favourite hobbies include participating in acapella choirs, going on coastal hikes and collecting old copper pieces, although she feels she may be a bit ‘rusty’ these days at some of these. At home Janine is a mum to two lovely boys (in the photo below) and although they have no pets she says if they did it would be a dog.

Janine’s position at Caprice takes her to many parts of Australia and one of her favourites destinations is Tasmania. Outside Australia Janine loves travelling to New Zealand, Scotland, Ireland, Northern England and Provence. Janine’s favourite seasons of Autumn and Spring would provide a very picturesque time to visit these beautiful places. She also has a long list of dream travel destinations which features Spain, Portugal and Greece.

Growing up in Victoria Janine does follow AFL a little and says her favourite team is a toss-up between Collingwood or St Kilda, as one of her uncles played for St Kilda many years ago.

When asked for a favourite quote or saying, Janine provided us with two, however she feels they are somewhat contradictory. The first is ‘Carpe Diem’, meaning to seize the moment and not worry too much about the future. The second is ‘if you fail to plan, you plan to fail’. We feel that both of these quotes have their merits and they seem to be working well for Janine!

Janine is a highly valued member of the Caprice team and we really appreciate what she has achieved thus far at Caprice and we look forward to working with her for many years to come!

For those who have visited our Sydney warehouse, you may already know a bit about Rich. To those who haven’t, here’s a few fun facts about our NSW Operations Coordinator, Richard Wood.

Rich has been with Caprice for 4 years now and says he loves working for a family run business where he not only enjoys his job but feels he is well suited to his position. Rich is a very important part of our team here at Caprice, helping ensure our NSW and QLD customers receive their Caprice goods.

When Rich isn’t coordinating stock and transport at work, he enjoys playing his guitar and watching plenty of sport. He particularly enjoys cricket and rugby union and as a proud New Zealander, his favourite teams are the All Blacks and the Wellington Hurricanes.

Rich’s favourite quote is from Eleanor Roosevelt, “You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face … You must do the thing you think you can’t do”. We think these are very strong words to live by.

Speaking of strong, Rich has two pet cats and dares anyone who mocks cats “to find the fiercest dog and put it up against the fiercest cat – there will be one winner. Hint – not the dog.”

Rich loves Autumn at home but when he travels his ideal spot is a nice sunny beach, swim up bar and no kids. Sounds good to us!

We love having Rich as a positive and hard-working member of our team and look forward to working with him for many years to come.

As some of you may know, over the last twelve months Caprice have been working on upgrades to our facilities. Therefore, we thought it was a good time to give you all an update on how we went.

Our priority at Caprice is providing a safe, enjoyable and productive work environment for our staff. With this in mind we have made several changes that not only improves the safety of our workplace but also the overall efficiency.

Creating clearer and more efficient work spaces around machines, reducing forklift traffic within the factory and upgrading machinery has made a huge difference to workplace safety.

As we have continued to update our machinery over time, we have recently been able to retire several of our older machines and improve the capabilities of our newer ones. By streamlining our production facilities, we have been able to increase our storage areas to allow for safer and more efficient interaction between warehousing and production floor. Improvements in our pallet racking has also allowed for safer and more efficient storage with less damage to products.

In addition to this, installing new safety barriers and making improvements to our signage and line marking has allowed for far better clarity and interaction between work spaces.

Although some of what we have done may seem tedious, we are very excited that these improvements have been made. These changes, along with upgrades in our office area, have contributed to a safer, more enjoyable and more efficient workplace for our valued staff members and visitors here at Caprice.

Emma Fielding, who is another vibrant member of our fantastic customer service team, is the focus of our next staff profile.

A valued employee of Caprice for over 5 years, Emma says ‘I love working at Caprice because of the fun environment created by a great team of staff’.

In her spare time, Emma enjoys exercising and trying out new recipes. She loves to have a laugh with her friends and binge watch a good TV series on Netflix.  She is also one of the many keen supporters of Hawthorn at Caprice.

Emma’s favourite season is summer and therefore she loves to travel anywhere there is a beach and the sun is shining. Somewhere that will always hold a special place in Emma’s heart is London, where she actually lived for two years.

Emma’s favourite quote is ‘Teamwork makes the dream work’ – and she certainly is a huge contributor to our team at Caprice!

Weightman’s Packaging have been a proud longstanding distributor of Caprice Paper Products for 25 years. Founder and Director Ross Weightman spent several years in Adelaide and Darwin before returning to Mildura. Ross had been associated with Dalton Packaging but in October 1983 his own business, Weightman’s Packaging and Stationary, was born.

His father Brian Weightman had previously owned and run a paper supply business on a smaller scale before working as a development officer for the VFL. Therefore, you could say that the passion for paper products runs in the family just as it does at Caprice!

Brian’s passion for football saw him have a strong association with the junior development program in the Sunraysia area. This association and the family’s involvement in the community has helped the business to prosper over the many years.

To this day the family business has grown immensely and the product range has diversified to include washroom products, chemicals, food packaging and industrial packaging. Also stocking catering supplies including food service products, commercial ovens, fridges and much more.

20170912 Jon with Dale Weightman - Weightman Packaging

Customer reach has also expanded over the years with the business shipping to customers in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane! This has been aided by the establishment of the internet with the company now able to reach parts of Australia they’d only ever dreamed of supplying.

The journey to start and run any family business is always challenging but the support from family and the community has allowed for plenty of accomplishments as well. Being led by his father Brian and mother Maureen, who are both strong sporting identities in the Sunraysia area, has allowed the company to break into the business community and be accepted with greater ease than normal.

Ross’ brother, Dale ‘Flea’ Weightman, a premiership star for Richmond Football Club and a state of Origin player for Victoria, helped the family name to become well known and this gave them an opportunity to get the business off the ground.

Weightman’s Packaging maintain that “without the support of suppliers like Caprice Paper, we could not have survived. Our business has been supported by Australian manufacturers and although we have seen many Australian suppliers close down over the years and seen many more move overseas, Caprice Paper have always been there through thick and thin.”

This week we’re profiling Stephanie Coppin, a key member of our customer service team for 5 ½ years.

Stephanie loves working hard and having a laugh with the close-knit customer service team – after all, you should be able to have fun while working.

Stephanie applies this balanced approach to the rest of her life too, playing weekly netball with the mighty ‘Percentage Boosters’, watching her beloved Hawks play at the MCG and supporting her kids when they play football every Sunday. Byron Bay is Stephanie’s favourite summer destination and she loved her recent travels to the USA this year.

“Caprice is such a fantastic place to work,” Stephanie says. “Working with such a great team of people always makes coming to work a pleasure.”

Family, fitness and fun in the sun (and at work)… To us this sounds like a well-rounded healthy approach to life. Stephanie, we love having your positive attitude around the office – here’s to the next 5 ½ years!

At Caprice, we understand the value of being able to make environmentally savvy choices at your business. Providing a range of sustainable paper products for your employees and customers is a fantastic way to encourage environmental consciousness, which is very important these days.

All products in the Caprice Green range are 100 percent recycled, including the varieties of napkins, paper towel and toilet paper. There’s no need for sustainability to be confined to one area of your workplace!

The quilted dinner napkins come in natural Kraft to suit every setting, and they’re available in two different folds. If you think they need sprucing up, you can have them custom printed with your business’ logo or design. The paper towel options include interleaved and roll towel varieties, while the toilet paper is available in cartons of individual rolls, 4-packs and, for extra convenience and economy, jumbo rolls.

The quality manufacturing of these products ensures they’re both sustainable and dependable. Everything in the Caprice Green range is constructed with absorbency, convenience and the environment in mind.

Whether you’re in hospitality, the cleaning industry, or just need to keep your office well-stocked, there’s an easy way to add a collection of wholly recycled paper options to your workplace. Mother Nature mightn’t get around to thanking you personally, but we think you and your customers will be glad you switched to Caprice Green.

We’re thrilled to report that the inaugural ISSA Cleaning & Hygiene Expo in Melbourne was a roaring success, not just for Caprice but for our entire industry.

As an exhibitor and Silver Sponsor, it was fantastic to be involved at the first-ever ISSA show in Australia, which brought leading manufacturers and suppliers together at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Caprice Expo

The expo was run in association with National Manufacturing Week, an added bonus for Caprice. As you know, we’re a proud Australian manufacturer and believe that Australian manufacturing stands for quality and reliability.

It’s always enjoyable to learn more about the latest innovations and ideas in the world of cleaning and hygiene. We walked away enthused about what lies ahead for our industry. The future looks bright — and clean!

Ultra Soft Range

We were very happy with our eye-catching stand, which made for a great way to show off the full range of Caprice’s paper products and what they can do. Our new catalogues got a workout and drew lots of positive feedback from customers. It was excellent to see the Caprice staff work really well as a team, putting not only our products on display but their professional, friendly customer service skills and knowledge.

The expo also gave our team the chance to meet people from all facets of the cleaning and hygiene industry across the two days of the show. We’d love to see more people join us at future ISSA events to help it grow bigger and better. Just think of the networking opportunities you’ll have with all that industry knowledge under one roof – not something to mISSA out on!
