You could be under the impression that at Caprice Paper Products we get a little excited about paper towel, napkins, toilet paper…you get the gist! Well, we’d be lying if we denied it.

But, happily, we also have lives outside paper! We like to keep active and involved in our local communities and this year many of our staff members are undertaking personal challenges and initiatives that give back to the community.

Coasting along

The family that works together also walks together. Mother and daughter duo Kate and Sam Irvine will be taking part in the Surf Coast Trek in April. This is a rugged 40km walk from beautiful Aireys Inlet to Torquay on Victoria’s famous surf coast. The amazing event raises money for the Kids Plus and Give Where You Live foundations. It’s not for the fainthearted but we know Kate and Sam will be putting their best feet forward with smiles all (or most!) of the way.

Variety is the spice of life

Keeping it in the family but in four wheels instead of on foot, David Irvine has been selected to join the Northland Distributors team for this year’s SA Variety Bash. The Variety Bash has a long history, beginning in 1985 when entrepreneur and adventurer Dick Smith took a group of willing motorists from Bourke NSW to Bourketown, Queensland, in old cars. While the world is much changed since then, the Variety Bash rule, that all cars had to be over 30 years old and non performance-modified, remains the same to this day.

The event raises important funds for Variety-The Children’s Charity, helping children and their families with financial support for special equipment such as wheelchairs, therapy and medical supplies when they can’t afford it. This is a wonderful annual event and well worth supporting!

Dust, Rust And A Wheely Good Cause

Paper trail

Not to be outdone, and to prove that Caprice’s community involvement isn’t limited to the Irvines, Bryan Parker, our Finance Director, will be taking part in the Oxfam Trailwalker event with his family in April. The Parkers have taken part before and have a goal this time of completing the 100kms in less than 24 hours.

Fun, fundraising and fitness

A common thread across all Caprice’s community initiatives and fundraising is the aim of having a fun time with a bit of fitness thrown in. Above all we love to contribute to the community around us and to make a difference to those less fortunate.

You’re welcome to help us achieve our goals by supporting us as we attempt to push ourselves (and maybe David’s car! Remember to reference his team’s car number – 333 – when donating) during these events. We’ve added links at the bottom of this article. Thank you for your support and stay tuned for the results.
